Sissinghurst Castle Garden Cranbrook – Saturday 3rd July 2027

🌿 NEW TOUR – OUR GARDEN OF ENGLAND TOUR 🌿
Sissinghurst Castle Garden • Cranbrook • Union Mill
📅 Saturday 3rd July 2027

Come and get your name down for what promises to be a truly beautiful summer day out in the Garden of England!

🚌 Picking up from:
Shepperton • Staines • Ashford • Stanwell

Our first destination is the magnificent Sissinghurst Castle Garden, one of England’s most celebrated gardens and the creation of writer and poet Vita Sackville-West and her husband Harold Nicolson.

Created from the ruins of an Elizabethan estate in the 1930s, Sissinghurst is famous for its wonderful series of intimate garden “rooms” — each with its own character, colours and atmosphere.

🌹 Discover Sissinghurst’s beautiful gardens, including:

🤍 The White Garden – perhaps Sissinghurst’s most famous garden, filled with white, silver, grey and green planting.

🌹 The Rose Garden – wonderfully romantic, with old-fashioned roses tumbling amongst the historic brickwork. Early summer is one of the loveliest times to see it.

🔥 The Cottage Garden – glorious fiery shades of orange, yellow and red surrounding South Cottage.

💜 The Purple Border – a gorgeous mixture of mauves, purples, pinks and blues.

🌿 The Herb Garden

🌳 The Lime Walk – Harold Nicolson’s beautifully structured avenue of lime trees.

🌰 The Nuttery – a peaceful woodland garden beneath hazel trees.

🌾 The Moat Walk – following part of Sissinghurst’s historic moat.

🍎 The Orchard

☀️ Delos – Sissinghurst’s extraordinary Mediterranean-inspired garden, influenced by Vita and Harold’s visit to the Greek island of Delos.

And there is plenty more to discover!

🏰 Those feeling energetic can climb the 78 steps of the Elizabethan Tower for spectacular views across the gardens and the Weald of Kent. On the way you’ll glimpse Vita’s Writing Room, preserved much as she left it and surrounded by thousands of books.

📚 Explore The Big Room (Library), browse the Plant Shop, Gift Shop and Second-hand Bookshop, or wander through the wonderful No Dig Vegetable Garden.

☕ There will also be time to enjoy a cuppa and perhaps a bite to eat at Sissinghurst.

👟 Sensible shoes are definitely recommended — there is lots to explore in this spectacular garden wonderland!

Then it’s on to Cranbrook…

🕐 At approximately 1.15pm, we return to the coach and make the short journey to the beautiful historic town of Cranbrook, known as the Capital of the Weald.

Here you’ll have time at leisure to find some lunch, perhaps enjoy one of the town’s cafés or the historic George Hotel, browse the independent shops and explore Cranbrook’s lovely old streets and buildings.

⛪ Don’t miss St Dunstan’s Church, affectionately known as the “Cathedral of the Weald.”

🕓 At 4.00pm we return to the coach — but we’re not quite finished!

📸 We’ll make one final stop for a photograph at Cranbrook’s famous Union Windmill, built in 1814 and believed to be England’s tallest working smock mill.

🚌 At approximately 4.30pm, it’s time to head for home after a wonderful summer day exploring one of Kent’s most famous gardens and one of its prettiest historic towns.
